As New - A new book with very minor shelfwear which must be noted. Also suitable as a gift.
Very Good - A book almost new but has been read and has very minor shelfwear. The spine is not tilted or creased. Any defects are noted.
Good - The average read book. Some minor shelfwear and scuffing. Pages and spine tight. Spine may show some creases and tilt. Previous owner's name and minor underlines and notes. Dust Jacket included if issued. Pages may be yellowed. May be a retired library copy. All defects noted.
Fair - Includes all pages but endpapers and half-title pages may be missing. Notes, highlights and underlines in text. Dust Jacket may have shelfwear and rubbing or completely missing. All defects noted.
Poor - A book with significant wear, scuffing or soiling. All pages included. Pages, joints and spine may be loose. Only used for books that are hard to find and the information is more important than the condition. Also called a reading copy. All defects are noted in the description.
Ex-library - Book that has been discarded from a public or private library. May contain library stamps, pocket and other distinctions. Usually has the word "Discard" stamped on the edges and some inner pages. Always noted with actual condition.
Book Club Edition - Noted as a BCE (Book Club Edition) or BOMC (Book of the Month Club). Always noted with actual condition.
Remainder - Usually new books that have been reduced in price by the publisher due to over supply. Most have a mark on the bottom edge. May have some wear from being handled in a store setting. Always noted with the actual condition.
